Set along a mature field boundary, a pair of Little Owls have moved into an old oak tree.
We have a hide suitable for three photographers on the west facing side – this offers great evening light as the sun is setting in the sky. Several perches/props of natural wood and others have been placed around the outside of the hide which can altered and changed as required or preferred. This hide is at its best during the spring, summer and early autumns months when the birds are busy feeding their brood or when the owlets have fledged and feed at the hide.
During the winter months we fitted a video camera inside the nest chamber and for the first time visitors to the hide can watch the birds feeding their chicks and general going about their daily business – its a unique opportunity to see into their private lives.
The site is located near Holme upon Spalding Moor, East Yorkshire.
